Support

PFLAG Greensboro is here to offer support for members of the LGBTQ+ community, their families, and other allies. Meeting attendees must be 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult.

  • Group Meetings

    Chapter Meetings

When: the Third Tuesday of every month @ 7:30pm

Where: College Park Baptist Church, 1601 Walker Avenue, Greensboro, NC

Follow the signs to the meeting room at the church when you arrive. PFLAG board members will be present to welcome and guide you to the meeting room if needed.

    What can I expect?

We meet in a group led by a trained facilitator. To begin, we go around and introduce ourselves. The facilitator then leads a discussion where participants share their issues and questions.

We offer a safe, confidential space in which to explore our feelings and understandings about the LGBTQIA experience, especially “coming out” and what that means to families, friends and other loved ones.

Listen and share, as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, knowing that you are welcome, just as you are, to listen and/or share your experiences with others who are facing or who have faced similar issues.

    Is it all just talking?

Support is our first priority for group meetings. Sometimes a speaker is invited or a video is shown to help educate the group on the latest issues and information available relevant to our specific groups needs.

PFLAG Greensboro also hosts three or more socials a year in conjunction with monthly chapter meetings.  They include a scholarship reception in the spring, an ice cream social in July, and a holiday party in December.

  • Individual Support

Group support isn’t right for everyone all the time.

Sometimes you may need to talk and can’t wait for a monthly meeting. Or maybe you don’t feel comfortable in a group setting. PFLAG Greensboro has members who are available to schedule a time outside of the group meetings to listen and answer questions.

Do you need support for a meeting with a teacher, school administrator or for a court date?

We can help.  PFLAG cannot provide legal advice or assistance but we do have members who can support you in those spaces.

    Examples include:

    • help you advocate for yourself or your child with issues arising in the school system or other community services
    • be witnesses for name changes, marriages
    • moral support for court dates
